Live from History - The Great War Unfolds - Class IX

As part of our World War I learning experience, students participated in a creative role-play activity titled “Live News Reports from History.” They took on the roles of reporters to deliver simulated news broadcasts from two key moments in WWI history.

Segment 2: Breaking News – Assassination in Sarajevo

Next segment recreated a dramatic news report covering the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in June 1914. Reporter gave urgent updates from Sarajevo, describing the events of the day, the political tension in the Balkans, and reactions from Austria-Hungary and Serbia. Analysts speculated on the possible consequences, foreshadowing the outbreak of war. This helped students understand how a single event could escalate into a global conflict.

Segment 1: Live from the Trenches

In this segment, students reported directly from the muddy, rat-infested trenches of the Western Front. Anchor introduced the harsh realities of trench warfare, including food shortages, trench foot, gas attacks, and low morale. Reporter shared emotional stories, giving the audience insight into the physical and mental toll of daily life in the trenches. The use of props made the experience immersive and memorable.
